PComArrow Intercity Coach Cali Version
The 'ComArrows' were rebuilt from 1968-vintage Jersey Arrow I MU cars in the late 1980s by NJ Transit. After being retired from NJ commuter service, the cars went to other agencies for stopgap service. In the early 2010s, some cars were sold to Caltrans for service on Amtrak's San Joaqin service. They have now been replaced by more modern equipment but Caltrans retains a set for emergency service.
The cars were significantly rebuilt for California service from the Comet 1B configuration in which they were originally rebuilt for NJ commuter service. They have new seats and interiors and have removed and added body and undercar details for intercity service and to be compatible to Amtrak standards.
